Solar expertise in the heart of Geneva

The canton of Geneva is among the most advanced regions in Switzerland when it comes to the energy transition. Cantonal law L 2 30, which came into force in 2023, makes solar panels mandatory on every new or renovated roof of more than 60 m². This provision makes the canton a European laboratory for renewable energy.

Amperwatt supports homeowners across the canton in the design and installation of bespoke photovoltaic systems.

Our approach stands out for its uncompromising architectural integration. We work closely with heritage architects, engineering consultancies and the cantonal authorities to ensure installations that respect the aesthetics of each property, including listed properties and those located in protected zones.

Our key areas of operation

Cologny

The most sought-after residential area. Villas where the integration must remain invisible.

Vandœuvres

Manor houses and heritage properties. Particular expertise in 19th-century buildings.

Conches

Modernist villas and contemporary builds. High-performance full-black solutions.

Vésenaz

Lakeside properties. Solutions specifically adapted to the architectural constraints of the lakeshore.

Chêne-Bougeries

Listed period residences. Work carried out in partnership with the Monuments Office.

Anières

Premium residences on the shores of Lake Geneva. Integration with traditional tiled roofs.

Subsidies in Geneva in 2026

The canton of Geneva is one of the most generous in Switzerland when it comes to incentives for the energy transition. Three sources of funding can be combined, reducing the investment cost by 30 to 45%.

I. Pronovo (federal subsidy)

The federal one-time remuneration is paid for every grid-connected photovoltaic installation. The amount depends on the installed capacity: approximately CHF 1'500 to CHF 4'500 for a standard residential installation. Payment is made after commissioning, generally within 6 to 12 months.

II. SIG-éco21 (cantonal subsidy)

Services Industriels de Genève offer one of the most advantageous subsidy programmes in Switzerland. For a photovoltaic installation, support can reach up to 35% of the total cost of the works, capped according to capacity. For a replacement heat pump, the subsidy can be as much as CHF 12'000.

III. Tax deduction (cantonal + federal)

The entire investment in a solar installation or a heat pump is deductible from taxable income as energy-saving work. This deduction can be spread over three tax years. For a taxpayer with a marginal tax rate of 35%, this represents a tax saving equivalent to 35% of the net investment.

What sets Geneva apart

Architecture and heritage

The canton of Geneva has an exceptionally rich architectural heritage. Many properties are listed or located in protected zones. Installing solar panels on such properties requires a specific permit from the Office for Monuments, Nature and Sites (SMS).

Our teams are experienced in this type of procedure. We have obtained permits for installations on 18th-century manor houses in Cologny, buildings on the heritage inventory in Old Carouge, and properties in protected agricultural zones in Vandœuvres.

Climate and sunshine

The canton of Geneva enjoys average annual sunshine of 1'854 hours, one of the highest figures on the Swiss Plateau. A standard 10 kWp photovoltaic installation produces around 11'500 to 12'500 kWh per year, equivalent to the consumption of an entire family household including an electric vehicle.

Grid and feed-in

Connection to the SIG grid is among the most reliable in Switzerland. With the new 2026 legislation limiting feed-in to 70% of installed capacity, adding a storage battery becomes economically and technically essential. Our lithium iron phosphate (LFP) systems achieve 85 to 90% self-sufficiency over the year.

Neighbours and discretion

In the canton's exclusive residential neighbourhoods, discretion is paramount. Our installations are designed to be invisible from the street: matt full-black panels, black mounting structures, cabling buried or concealed within the roof fascias. No visual intrusion whatsoever.

  • Works carried out within restricted hours, in line with municipal regulations
  • Discreet service vehicles with no conspicuous logos
  • Teams trained in our confidentiality protocol
