The Lake Geneva region, our home ground

The shores of Lake Geneva are among the most sought-after residential areas in Europe. From the Geneva shore to the Vaud Riviera, by way of La Côte and UNESCO-listed Lavaux, the Lake Geneva region boasts an exceptional concentration of villas, heritage properties and contemporary homes.

Amperwatt supports the owners of these residences in their energy transition with a detailed understanding of regional specificities: differing municipal regulations, microclimates, architectural requirements specific to each municipality and constraints linked to the proximity of the lake.

Extensive geographical expertise

Our teams work every day across the entire Lake Geneva region, organised into three operational branches:

  • Geneva branch: Geneva, Cologny, Vandœuvres, Anières, Vésenaz, Hermance
  • Vaud branch: Nyon, Rolle, Morges, Lausanne, Lutry, Vevey
  • Riviera/Lavaux branch: Cully, Montreux, Villeneuve, UNESCO-listed Lavaux

This regional presence allows us to guarantee short response times (less than 48 hours for a consultation), responsive maintenance and an in-depth knowledge of the local authorities and their procedures.

Lakeside challenges

The Lake Geneva microclimate

Lake Geneva creates a distinctive microclimate along its shores: higher humidity, winter mists (the famous morning “Lac de glace”) and exposure to winds (Bise, Vent, Joran). These conditions influence the choice of materials and the design of installations.

Our panels withstand saline atmospheres (essential for properties directly on the lakeshore) and include reinforced anti-corrosion treatments for the mounting structures. Inverters are protected by enclosures rated IP65 or higher.

Heritage constraints in UNESCO-listed Lavaux

The terraced vineyards of Lavaux have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007. Any work on buildings within the listed perimeter is subject to rigorous review by the cantonal and federal authorities (FOC).

We have obtained permits for several installations in Lavaux, working with heritage architects and specialist engineering consultancies. These projects typically require:

  • A comprehensive landscape impact assessment
  • Photomontages from protected viewpoints
  • Technical solutions invisible from the lake and the Riviera
  • Approval by the Cantonal Commission for Cultural Property

Cantonal subsidies

The Lake Geneva region spans three cantons, each with its own subsidy programme:

  • Geneva (SIG-éco21): up to 35% for photovoltaics, CHF 12'000 for heat pumps
  • Vaud: CHF 300–600 per kWp, capped at CHF 6'000
  • Valais: up to 20% of the cost of the works for residential installations

Our administrative team knows the particularities of each canton and systematically optimises subsidy applications according to your situation.
